Celebrate the publication of a new book by our neighbors, Do Ask Do Tell: LGBTQ Stories from Curry Senior Center, with a reading and reception at the Tenderloin Museum.
Do Ask Do Tell: LGBTQ Stories from Curry Senior Center is a collection of stories that provide a window into the lives of LGBTQ+ Older Adults and Adults with Disabilities in San Francisco. Chronicling the journey of 20 individuals at the Curry Senior Center, the stories display the heartbreak and accomplishment of a generation that brought immense change to LGBTQ+ rights in the United States. From the challenges of coming out in a small town, to the speakeasy bathhouses on Polk Street, and from the horrors of the AIDS epidemic in San Francisco to the triumph of gender transitioning, each story is filled with wit, wisdom, and insight. “Do Ask, Do Tell” offers engaging and unique perspectives that can inspire us all to move forward toward equality.
In celebration of Pride Month, the Tenderloin Museum and Curry Senior Center partner to present readings from this recently released book. A few selected participants will read portions of their stories with the beautiful accompanying photo portraits from the book as a backdrop. Refreshments will be served, and books will be available for purchase. Space is limited, so please RSVP via Humanitix!
