Come see the talent behind the Compton's Cafeteria Riot give a sparkly show on the streets of the Tenderloin! Trans activist and “pop up” drag queen Shane Zal-Diva–who plays the role of “Rusty”–presents a revue of Compton’s cast & crew in Myrtle Alley (behind the play venue at 835 Larkin St.) for the Pride month edition of the SF First Thursday Art Walk!
From April-September, Tenderloin Museum teams up with SF Planning to produce a series of block parties in Myrtle Alley during the SF First Thursday Art Walks in the Tenderloin & Lower Polk. June is Pride month, so TLM has tapped the cast and crew of its ongoing immersive theater piece, The Compton’s Cafeteria Riot, to bring the spirit of queer joy and trans resistance out of doors and into the streets!
Organized by trans activist, street performer and “pop up” drag queen Shane Zal-Diva (who plays “Rusty” in the play), “Drag It Out in the Open” features Compton’s cast and crew performing in Myrtle Alley, the outdoor space adjacent to the venue at 835 Larkin St. and in the epicenter of the First Thursday Art Walk activities. “Compton’s” will be open for a $5 pancake special, refreshments that you can enjoy at the counter or al fresco in the alley. This is a great opportunity to see our stars shine, meet the cast, learn more about the show, and purchase or sign up for community tickets.
